Top DIY Tips

We've been installing and repairing drywall for years, so we take certian aspects of the job for granted; but we've taken a step back and here are our top three tips:

When hanging drywall use 5/8" GWB (rather than 1/2"): the stiffer board will help hide framing imperfection.

When taping your sheets use a fiberglass mesh tape rather than paper tape to avoid bubbles forming underneath.

When applying a skim coat of joint compound, use a raking light is definitely advisable--you don't want the first time imperfections become apparent being when the lighting's fitted after you thought you were finished.
