Kraken cryptocurrency exchange back online after unexpected delays

Kraken cryptocurrency exchange finally returned online Sunday 11.30 UTC after causing an uproar among users in a downtime that lasted more than 2 days.

Users will now do unleveraged trading for free until the end of the month. Kraken had said this would happen after coming back. The service resumed and went on normally although it was holding for several hours. As a result of problems in displaying order book data. Later the problem was resolve.

Kraken said user funds remain secure.

Although the company had previously announced a 2-hour downtime, later extend to an unknown period as claims surfacing about a bug that had not been identifying in the earlier upgrade plans. Kraken later said it would delay returning to solve the problem.

The upgrade sought to deal with a number of problems users were unhappy about, including difficulties in placing of trades and frequent connection errors on the website.

It has not been a smooth road for many crypto exchanges with some reporting problems due to high traffic especially last month. This was as a result of an increase in Bitcoin trading deals as Bitcoin price went up. For instance, Luno, Bitfinex, and Bitstampexperienced delays or went offline for maintenance in December.
